Art At The Source Open Gallery

Join us June 1st-2nd & 8th-9th for Art At The Source. We'll be hosting master woodcarver Takayuki Zoshi. This two weekend event is free and open to all from 10am to 5pm. Come see Zohi's work, meet the artist, and sip tea with other art lovers.

About Zoshi:
In 1981, Zoshi took a journey from Los Angeles to New York on foot as a part of the peace march working for nuclear disarmament. And although finishing the march is historically significant (only about seven people finished), what happened between the beginning and end changed his life. One evening in Kansas, his bonito knife (a Japanese knife used for shaving dried fish) transformed into his carving knife and a broken piece of walnut wood became his first Buddha.

Since then, Zoshi has become one of the most well known woodcarvers in the Buddhist tradition, although much of his carving goes beyond the realm of traditional Buddhist carvings and includes folk and modern contemporary western art. He's taught in the United States and Africa, and is often referred to as the Spirit Carver for his ability to merge moving spirit into the wood.
