In this class you will learn to weave a twined basket of locally grown plants~ cattails, Watsonia, usnia, and leaves of cultiated flowers~ and raffia, twines and ropes. If you already know simple basket weaving, this will be an opportunity to learn decorative weaving and embellishing techniques, and get lots of ideas from other weavers!
All materials provided, but please bring a sack lunch. Must be 12 and up, all participants must have their own ticket.
Maralee has been weaving baskets for over 25 years and has taught weaving in Northern California and Oregon. You may recognize her face from her frequent classes at the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium and the Calfornia School of Herbal Studies. Her current fascination is weaving with kelp and sea plants. You can see her work displayed at the Artisan’s Coop in Bodega, CA.
